Past Thermometer Exchange Events

The Be Mercury Free program has held four thermometer exchange events. These events included "Mercury Free March" 2005 in partnership with Leader Pharmacies, "Mercury Free May" 2004 in partnership with CHW/Mercy Hospitals and two earlier one-day events - one at Anderson Bros. Leader Pharmacy on Fulton Avenue and one at Land Park Leader Pharmacy. In total, these events have resulted in the collection of over 17,000 mercury thermometers.

MARCH 2005:
During Mercury Free March 2005 more than 7,000 mercury thermometers were collected.

MAY 2004:
	More than 7,000 thermometers were collected during Mercury Free May 2004. Here even bicyclists got in on the drive through mercury thermometer collection.
	A visitor to the drive through collection stops to ask questions to "Mercury Free May" event staff.

NOVEMBER 26, 2003:
	A total of 929 mercury-filled thermometers were collected at the November 26, 2003 thermometer exchange event, held at Land Park Leader Pharmacy. Here Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District staff identifies the mercury in an attendee's thermometer before collecting it and providing a new digital thermometer in return.

OCTOBER 22, 2003:
	A total of 675 mercury thermometers were collected at the October 22, 2003 thermometer exchange event. Here attendees line up at Anderson Bros. Leader Pharmacy in Carmichael for the two to three minute wait to exchange their mercury thermometer for a new digital thermometer.
